Meet Bethany
With over a decade of experience in the classroom and on the stage, I bring a unique blend of professional mastery and personal passion to every student I serve. After a 12-year career directing award-winning choral programs in North Carolina, where my ensembles consistently earned top rankings and performed on international stages, I relocated to the Richmond area in 2024 to focus on a more individualized approach to teaching. I now homeschool my own two children, direct local choral ensembles, work at a Midlothian homeschool co-op, and teach both voice and piano lessons privately!
Refined Musicianship and Pedagogy
As a professional oratorio soprano, choral director and soloist, my life has been dedicated to the pursuit of musical excellence. Today, I maintain a selective private studio for vocalists and pianists in Midlothian. By keeping my studio small, I ensure that every student receives the high-quality, one-on-one attention necessary to find their voice and master their craft.

Trusted Homeschool Support
My most important teaching role, however, happens right at home. As a current homeschooling parent and a licensed teacher in both Virginia and North Carolina, I understand the paperwork stress that can accompany educational freedom.

Under Virginia Code § 22.1-254.1, I am legally qualified to provide certified evaluations for families who prefer a personalized portfolio review over standardized testing. I believe a single test rarely captures a child’s true growth; as your evaluator, I act as your partner in documenting the real-world progress and unique achievements of your homeschool year.

A Personalized Approach for Your Family
Whether I am preparing for a voice recital, advising a family on their child's best suited homeschool curriculum choices, singing the Messiah oratorios, or reviewing an end-of-year portfolio, my goal is to provide a calm, supportive, and professional environment. I am not just a license number or a set of credentials, I am a neighbor and an educator dedicated to helping Midlothian families flourish.
