Chesterfield Children's Choir

Excellence. Artistry. Community.

We believe that high-level music education and a joyful community go hand-in-hand. Founded by a veteran music educator, the Chesterfield Children's Choir (CCC) offers students in grades PreK–12, a comprehensive, high quality, rigorous music education, combining professional vocal coaching with the excitement of building a team of young singers who create art and joy!

  • Artistic Rigor: An evidence-based and theoretical approach to sight-singing, music theory, and vocal health.

  • Secular philosophy, classical sounds: A welcoming, non-religiously affiliated environment where every voice has a place to shine through concert-style choral performance repertoire.

  • No auditions (voice success meetings instead)! We believe in the confidence-building strength of singing alone and with others. Having our 3rd - 12th grade students sing one-on-one with us prior to joining allows us to hear their strengths, needs, appropriately place their voice parts, and individually encourage their love of singing.

  • Musical Community: The joys and character development of a team, with compassionate directors and mentors who guide with love, motivation, and respect for every singer.

  • PreK - 12th Grade, divided into multiple distinct ensembles

  • Mastery Levels and Student Leadership, which allow our wide range of ages and experience levels to continue to all grow at their own pace, while showcasing individual growth, and encouraging peer mentorship.

  • The strength of structured, educational, artistic travel: Our 4-day Summer Tour. including cultural excursions, daily performances, and the intense and joyful experience of structured travel with high expectations for positively representing Chesterfield County across the state and beyond!

About our Founder, Bethany Wolfe

A passionate advocate for the transformative power of choral music, Bethany has dedicated her career to cultivating young voices and building vibrant musical communities. With over 15 years of experience in the classroom and the private studio, Bethany's choirs consistently receive superior ratings at state adjudications, have traveled both in the US and internationally (most recently Toronto, Canada in spring 2024), and have been regarded in their communities as passionate, reliable musicians who value belonging to the "team" of being in choir together.

Beyond the podium, Bethany is known for a pedagogical approach that balances high-level vocal rigor with a deep sense of belonging. "My goal for CCC is to create a space where excellence is measured by more than individual talent," says Bethany. "It’s about the confidence students build and the connections they forge when they share their voices with the world and discover the profound joy of achieving ambitious artistic goals together." When not rehearsing or planning the next regional tour, Bethany enjoys homeschooling her two children, gold dredging with her husband, reading, spending time outdoors, and crocheting.
